OF WISDOME FROM HIS HOLINESS Shri Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham
R. Jeyashree, Chennai.
Q: Is a man born according to his Karma? Does his Karma follow him after
his birth?
A: A persons destiny is pre-determined. Your past virtues and
sins determine your birth and life pattern.
Mr.P.Muthulingam, Salem.
Q: Is Yamakanda auspicious time?
A: No. Auspicious events and religious ceremonies should not be
started or done during Rahu Kalam and Yamakanda.
Mr.S.Kishore, Mumbai.
Q: Should marriages be performed only during certain auspicious times?
Why these muhurtas are always in the morning and forenoon?
A: These hours of the day have some special effects. Marriages
should be performed only during muhurthas. Auspicious events are performed
before the Sun crosses the equinox.
Mrs.Priya Raman, Hyderabad.

problems in the family. What is your opinion, Swamiji?

residing in temples and other public places.

Q: Which are the deities to be worshipped on different days of the week?
A: Sunday-Soorya, Monday-Lord Shiva, Tuesday - Lord Karthikeya
Wednesday, Saturday-Lord Vishnu. Thursday-navbagrahas. Friday-Goddess
Shakti.
Mr.M.Kannappan, Nagpur.
Q: It is believed that the sins of parents affect their children. If
elders in the family commit sins, are any remedial measures available?
A: Very often, people commit serious mistakes endangering the safety
and peace of mind of persons around them. The affected party curses the
people responsible for their suffering. Unfortunately, the real guilty party
gets away with their felony and lives a comfortable life. Very rarely do
they suffer within their lifetime. It is their children who feel the
intensity of the curse heaped on their parents. The offspring can be saved
though only to a considerable extent if they are devoted to God, sincere and
loving to their peers and disciplined in their thought, words and deeds.
Mr.K. Raghupathy, Coimbatore.
Q: Mother and Father are equated to God in the ancient texts. What is
the complete logic behind this belief?
A: It is important to love, respect and be devoted to ones
parents. There is no necessity to exhibit devotion towards our parents by
offering poojas to them. Poojas are for Gods and Goddesses our parents are
living deities. Devotion to them must come straight from the heart. Our
parents ought to be worshipped for the simple reason that we would not exist
without them it is necessary to reinforce to our youth the importance of
parents. Even the Vedas vehemently declare: Maathru Devo Bhava, Pithru Devo
Bhava, Athithi Devo Bhava, Aacharya Devo Bhava.
