The transit of Sani in some of the houses in the natal horoscope is highly dreaded. During such unfavourable transits, the individual faces tremendous odds in different aspects of life such as career, finances, family etc. and Sani makes the person remember God's name. Even though such transits are terrible materialistically, they are uplifting spiritually, as Sani cleans up the individual from all past sins and give him chance to live a life with righteousness in later days.

However, the transits are not as bad for all the natives, since it depends on how badly Sani is afflicting the individual horoscope. If Sani happens to be a Yogakaraka in the horoscope and involved in good yogas, then the effects of transits will not be very bad.

Saturn is currently transiting in Leo, from 15 July 2007. Sade-sati is ending for Gemini natives and starting for Virgoans. For Cancer Rasi, the last 2 1/2 years of Sade-sati is running. For Leo rasi, it is janma Sani, i.e., is in the middle 2 1/2 years of the total 7 1/2 years. For Virgo Rasi, it is the first 2 1/2 years of the total 7 1/2 years. Sade-sati comes by rotation to all Rasis, irrespective of the dasa-bhukti period. People afflicted by Sade-sati need not be panicky, as Lord Sani can be easily pleased and he blesses the devotees as well. We need to be careful in money matters, health etc. during difficult periods. As Sani is a slow-moving planet whatever we do, the result comes very slowly.

Remedial Measures to reduce the afflictions of Saturn

Graha Mantra of Sani

Chant this mantra 108 times and offer blue flowers to Lord Saneeswara

Ekadashakshari Hanuman Mantra
om ham rudraya hanumate namaha
Chant 108 times everyday and offer Tulsi leaves to Lord Hanuman

Beeja Mantra of Sani
sam sanaischaraya namaha
Chant this mantra whenever you find time and offer "paanakam" (Elixir of jaggery, ginger, cardamom and water) to Lord Ayyappa every evening, especially on Saturdays.

Worship of Lord Krishna, Kaali, Hanuman, Lord Ayyappa and Karuppusamy would be good for reducing the afflictions caused by the transit of Saturn in Leo.

Third Anuvaka of Chamaka Prasna. This mantra should be recited only after getting proper advice from a Vedic Scholar or the service of a Purohit may be utilized for this worship
Chant 108 times in a week and distribute food and blankets to the poor, not to brahmins. For Brahmins, offer Dakshina and fruits only.

If one is going through any hard time like Sanidasa, Sadesati, Kantakasani, Astamasani etc. he may suffer from the complication like paralysis, insanity, limb injury, cancer, tumors, heart-pain, rheumatism, bronchitis, etc due to the bad effects of Saturn.
Akaala charyaam mrigayaam cha saahasam

grihe pareshaam gamanam cha varjayeth
grahejuraaja vishama sthitheshu cha

"One should avoid travel during late nights, doing dangerous works, going abroad, riding vehicles unnecessarily, visiting others' houses and enemies' houses without any reason and also attending unnecessary meetings etc. during the time when the planets are not favourable."

"My salutations to Sun, Moon, Son of the Earth i.e., Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn, Rahu and Ketu (all the nine planets) as well as my teacher."

Krishnaaya vaasudevaya namaami haraye sadaa
mandasyaanista sambhootham doshajaatham vinaashaya

Oh! Lord Krishna! the son of Vasudeva! I am always in service of you and have worshipped you, hence please get rid off all my problems, occurring due to the affliction of Saturn.


Sani Yantra
Propitiation of Sani yantra is very beneficial, when one feels depressed or affected as above. It indicates success in worldly affairs and gains in business. The native touches the dizzy heights.

It is advisable to consult a good purohit who is well-versed in yantra, mantra, tantra and Sanskrit to get the Yantra done. Name of the beneficiary is to be written inside the yantra and 21 days of pooja to be performed as per the sastras.

   • Recite Sri Sanaischara Sthothra complied by King Dasaratha, everyday.
   • Recite Sri Sanaischara Ashtakam every morning, along with family members to receive the blessings of Lord Saturn, such as material prosperity, spiritual strength and even salvation.
